Maximum two first names

Polish law permits a maximum of two first names for a child.

Must not be offensive or indecent

Names that are considered offensive, ridiculous, or indecent will be refused by the registrar.

Diminutives not allowed

Short forms and nicknames (e.g., Kasia instead of Katarzyna) cannot be registered as official names.

Name should indicate gender

Names must correspond to the child's sex.

Foreign names accepted

Names of foreign origin are permitted as long as they meet the other criteria.
